Interior designer Michael Van Horn has worn several artistic hats, including trapeze artist and celebrated fashion illustrator. While his trapeze days were brief, his illustration career began on the West Coast sketching Hollywood stars for Women’s Wear Daily. Then he continued on the East Coast where his elegant drawings appeared in the windows of Henri Bendel’s and Bloomingdale’s and were seen regularly on the fashion pages of The New York Times.

Van Horn’s interior design work combines his canny visual talents with his innate sense of practicality. His interiors speak eloquently to both the architecture and the function of the spaces he designs, while his fresh approach encompasses a broad range of styles.

Van Horn specializes in enhancing his client’s vision. Praise in The Wall Street Journal highlights his ability to “individualize five bedrooms in a Nantucket summer home while maintaining an overall look of unfussy elegance.” The result was ideal for a summer home created to accommodate a steady flow of guests.

His work has been featured in Elle Decor, The Wall Street Journal, and New York Cottages and Gardens.
